Break-ups and Addiction
BA (Break-ups Anonymous)
You might need this if you are engaging in any of the following behavior:
1. Drunk dialing your ex
2. Showing up at your ex’s house with no warning
3. Inappropriate text messaging
4. Sobbing uncontrollably for hours, days, weeks, or months
5. Begging your ex to get back together
If you have engaged in any of these behaviors, you might need to find your local chapter of BA. And if this in no way describes anything you’ve ever done, just remember denial is an addict’s calling card (And you are way cooler than the rest of us).
The State University of New York at Stony Brook and Rutgers University conducted a study on 15 students who had recently gone through a painful break-up. One jilted student had just come out of a four-year relationship. Ouch.
Researchers found that the same areas of the brain associated with addiction (Think alcohol, cocaine, and nicotine) are the same areas of the brain associated with romantic rejection. No wonder your ex is so irresistible and that you will risk losing your dignity to get a fix. Too bad you aren’t Charlie Sheen and can’t blink to cure yourself. (Although Breakup Valley Lodge does sound more appealing than Break-ups Anonymous).
So, step away from your smart phone and your ex’s house. You can do it. Enlist your friends for support, preferably your sober ones. Now that you know what you are fighting, and have hopefully accepted the condition, you can overcome it. #win

I totally agree but sometimes people just want that second chance and they can have it if they play their cards right!
Great article!
